Mr Trawally obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and later a Master’s Degree in Population and Development. In his early years in the civil service, he served as a Communication Specialist responsible for the overall coordination of all communication efforts of the National Population Programme. Mr Trawally briefly served as a Principal Planner and he was later appointed the Director of Population Affairs. He helped in designing various UNFPA supported population country  programmes and spearheaded the revision of National Population Policy in 2007. As the Director of Population Affairs, Mr Trawally served as the overall coordinator of all population related programmes in the Gambia and helped set-up the regional coordination structures to ensure the effective implementation of the programme at the regional level. Mr Trawally also served as the national focal point for promoting south-south cooperation in population, reproductive health and development. He has training in Financial Management, Monitoring and evaluation and project designing and management.
