People’s Republic of China Donates Vehicles to the Office of the Vice President in The Gambia

In a generous gesture strengthening diplomatic ties, the People’s Republic of China has donated two vehicles to the Office of the Vice President in The Gambia. His Excellency Mohammed B.S Jallow, the Vice President of The Gambia, welcomed the Chinese Ambassador to The Gambia, His Excellency Liu Jin, and his delegation at the State House premises in Banjul for the official handover ceremony, held on Friday, 17th November, 2023.

The donated vehicles, a Chery Tiggo and Fonton View G9 Series Light Bus (14 Seater) were presented by H.E. Liu Jin as symbols of the continuing friendship between The People’s Republic of China and The Gambia. The contribution is expected to enhance the mobility of the Office of the Vice President staff, further facilitating their crucial responsibilities.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the President of The Gambia, Vice President Jallow acknowledged the significant impact these vehicles will have on improving operational efficiency. He emphasized their importance in supporting the daily functions of the office and extended appreciation for The People’s Republic of China's consistent support.

Furthermore, the Vice President highlighted the ongoing support provided by the People’s Republic of China in various sectors, including infrastructure development, specifically mentioning their contributions to road and bridge constructions in the Upper River Region (URR). The improved transportation and access resulting from these initiatives have positively impacted the nation. Vice President Jallow further commended the People’s Republic of China for its commendable efforts in supporting The Gambia's agriculture and education sectors.

The donation ceremony marks another milestone in the bilateral relations between The Gambia and the People’s Republic of China, showcasing the latter's commitment to supporting the former in its pursuit of national development.
