Friday, Nov. 24th marked the end of the ECOWAS Meeting of Social Protection Experts and Ministers. Over the course of the 4-day workshop, experts diligently refined the existing draft of the Social Protection Framework. This document serves as a crucial foundation for member states and partners to enhance their commitment and investments in social protection, aiming to mitigate poverty and inequality in the sub-region.
In his closing statement, Vice President Jallow conveyed sincere gratitude on behalf of President Adama Barrow for the trust and confidence placed in The Gambia to host this pivotal meeting. The Vice President also extended appreciation to the experts for their vital contributions to the framework and operational plan.
"Leaving no one behind, let us change the narrative of social protection," he emphasized, underscoring the collective commitment to inclusivity and transformation in this critical domain.
