VP Jallow Extends Warm Welcome to UNICEF Gambia’s New Resident Rep

On Wednesday, December 20th, 2023, His Excellency Mohammed B.S Jallow, the Vice President of The Gambia, received Ms. Nafisa Binte Shafique, the newly appointed Resident Representative of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Gambia, during her courtesy visit at the State House.

The discussions held were substantial, encompassing vital topics such as investing in the well-being of children and young people, immunization coverage, social protection, and data management.

Expressing her admiration for the Vice President, Ms. Nafisa described him as a wise and visionary leader, particularly highlighting his commitment to education and understanding of the importance of data. She commended him as a dedicated advocate for children, expressing her inspiration by his vision for The Gambia and its youth.

In her role as UNICEF Gambia’s new country representative, Ms. Nafisa conveyed her eagerness to build upon the existing positive collaboration and partnerships, elevating them to new heights. She also emphasized her commitment to extending UNICEF's impact to reach the most vulnerable children in the community, with the overarching goal of positioning The Gambia as a beacon of progress both regionally and globally.

Vice President Jallow reiterated the full support of The Gambia Government, under the active leadership of President Barrow, for the ongoing and prospective collaboration with UNICEF Gambia.
