His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, arrived today in Luanda, Republic of Angola, ahead of the Extraordinary Summit of the African Union scheduled to take place on 29th and 30th August 2026.

 

The Vice President and delegation were received at Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto International Airport by H.E. José Paulino Cunha Da Silva, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola. He was also welcomed by the Gambian Honorary Consul in Angola, as well as representatives from the Gambian Embassy in Ethiopia.

 

Vice President Jallow is in Luanda to represent His Excellency the President of the Republic of The Gambia, Mr. Adama Barrow, at the Summit, which will bring together Heads of State and Government and senior representatives from across the continent to deliberate on matters of continental significance.

 

He is accompanied by the Secretary to Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service Hon. Alieu Njie, Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Vice President Mr. Musa Mbye, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad Ms. Fatou Kinneh Jobe among other senior government officials.

 

Shortly after VP Jallow’s arrival in Luanda, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, Hon. Sering Modou Njie, and members of the Gambian delegation held a briefing session with the Vice President at his hotel, ahead of the Summit’s proceedings.

The briefing forms part of preparations for The Gambia’s participation in the AU Extraordinary Summit, where VP Jallow will represent President Adama Barrow.
