His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, Vice President of The Gambia, on Tuesday, 13 August received a delegation from Peace Esso Adventures at his office in State House, Banjul, where discussions centred on advancing domestic tourism and cultural exploration in the country.
The meeting, led by the organisation’s founder, Mr. Lamin Saidykhan, served as an opportunity to brief the Vice President on Peace Esso Adventures’ vision to “sell The Gambia to Gambians” by promoting the nation’s rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and natural attractions.
During the courtesy call, Mr. Saidykhan formally invited the Vice President to serve as Chief Launcher for the organisation’s grand launch on 16th August in Kasumai. The event is expected to feature a day-long adventure starting from the Independence Stadium, with stops at Bakau Kachikally Crocodile Pool, Monkey Park, and ending in Kasumai for the official ceremony.
Highlighting the importance of domestic tourism, Mr. Saidykhan noted that developing internal tourism infrastructure and awareness is crucial for economic resilience, particularly in times of global crises that may disrupt international travel. He stressed the need for Gambians to explore and appreciate the wealth of natural and cultural assets within their borders.
Mr. Saidykhan also expressed profound gratitude to Vice President Jallow for the warm welcome and the unwavering support extended to Peace Esso Adventure in its mission to foster national pride and boost domestic tourism.
The Vice President commended the initiative and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting projects that promote tourism, cultural heritage, and community development.
The launch in August is expected to draw participation from communities, adventure enthusiasts, and dignitaries, marking a significant milestone in The Gambia’s push to revitalise domestic tourism.
