From Banjul to Beijing — The Gambia is Making Moves!

By Mariatou Ngum & Abdou Mbye

The Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, is in China and things are already off to a powerful start!

Today at the Binhai One Hotel in Tianjin, His Excellency received a detailed and high-level briefing from The Gambia’s Ambassador to China, His Excellency Masaneh N. Kinteh, a man who clearly means business with an impressive and dedicated team behind him, as the VP himself noted with admiration!

The briefing covered everything from China’s foreign policy and Sino-Gambia Bilateral Relations, to the achievements of our Embassy in Beijing and the all-important Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). The Vice President and his delegation came prepared and left even more ready for what’s ahead!

This visit is no ordinary trip. It comes at a landmark moment — 2026 marks the 10th Anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic ties between The Gambia and China! A decade of roads, bridges, trade, scholarships, and growing partnership. And the best is yet to come!

Next stop- VP Jallow will take the stage at the 2026 Forum on Global Human Rights Governance in Beijing where he will deliver a major address on Green Development and the Protection of Human Rights — speaking not just for The Gambia, but for all of Africa as the proud host of the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights!

The Gambia is present. The Gambia is speaking. The Gambia is delivering!
